Bride of Anubis

"Oh like a Jackal?" She said.

"In my case yes." he said looking out on the view of the Kingdom.

"How many other girls have you fallen for?" She asked.

".......None." he looked at her. "I do not think many women would wish to be my wife, for my duty in the underworld."

She smiled a bit, "Well maybe we can get to know each other, go on dates or something."

"As you wish. But first, I believe you need to eat. You haven't have anything since this morning." he said.

"I'm not hun-" Her stomach growled in protest.

"Your stomach says otherwise." he chuckled, "Come." he led her downstairs.

She took his hand as he lead her to the kitchen

He spoke to a servant and they headed to a spot where a table was set up.

"There are servants in the underworld?" She said surprised.

"Some who we found favour in become servants or children that have died before their time are giving a better life here." he said.

"Oh... Well that's nice of you."

He smiled and he sat down, "Please sit." he said.

She sat down across from him, "So how many women have fallen for you?"

"A few, but mainly they are the goddess here." he said with a sigh.

"Why so sad?"

"I find it annoying to be fawned over by the goddesses, it doesn't give me any peace. I just wish to do my duties and find ONE wife." he said, "Is that so much to ask?"

"I guess not."

Then, a child servant brought a flask of wine and to cups, she bowed, "Master., my lady." Anubis nodded.

The child servant placed it on the table and poured the wine.

"I've never seen a child that young serving before..."

"She has been dead for a long time now, and she has been doing her job without question or problem." he said

"I guess..." She sighed a bit unsure about it.

"You do not like the idea?" he noticed her unsureness.

"Well it's just she's so young."

"Would like her in your service?" he asked Nefertari.

"What?" She was surprised yet again.

The young servant girl smiled, "It would be an honour my lady." she bowed.

"My name is Femi." she was a cute young child.

"Umm... hi Femi..."

Anubis smiled, "She knows each palace inside and out and she is very sweet." Femi blushed, "Thank you master."

Nefertari smiled, "I guess if it would make her happy."

"Thank you My Lady!" she tried to hold a squeal in.

She chuckled, "Your Welcome."

"It is settled, Femi is your maid." he smiled. Femi bowed again, "Thank you master and my lady." she went back to the kitchen trying to hold her excitement.

Nefertari smiled at the little girl's excitement.

Then the older servants came out with the food. Roasted mutton, fruit and bread on the table.

They ate their food quietly.

He looked at Nefertari, "Why so quiet?"

"I don't know... Nothing to talk about."

"Well, tell me about your life before you came to the wedding." he leaned onto his hand.

"Well I was raised in a wealthy family out in the country side along the Nile. My mother's father was the High Priest of well... you. I had many suiters but my mother wanted me to be like my fathers sister."

"You're the descendant of my high priest? I should have known." he smiled.

She blushed, "Well I come from a very dedicated family. Her oldest brother has taken over that role. One of her sisters is High Priestest of Isis, Another of Taweret. And Another one of her brothers is a priest of Amun-Ra."

"Very well renown family I see. But I should have seen this if your part of the priest family." he cupped his chin.

She blushed, "Well that's why I have tiny shrines in my garden for each of the gods. It's good luck to pray to the gods every day and night. Every night I say my thanks for keeping me and my family alive and safe during the day and I pray to keep me and my family safe while we sleep. And in the morning I do the same thing."

He smiled "You have been blessed." he complimented.

She blushed, "Thank you."

"You blush quite a bit." he chuckled. "Are you so bashful?"

"I'm not sure. Mother always taught me to have a modest nature so then I do not anger the gods."

"So far you have been approved greatly." he smiled.
