Bride of Anubis

She nodded, "I hope it goes well."

Serket Was overhearing all this and smirked, Seth was also with her. "DId you heard that? The little mortal might just return to her world."

Set shook his head, "Anubis doesn't give up that easily."

"Well, she better PRAY that she leaves, or my scorpions will be feasting on her flesh." she hissed.

All of a sudden she found herself against a tree with Set's hand around her neck, "You will do no such thing!" he hissed, "The girl is mine!"

She gasped for breath, "A-A-ALRIGHT!" she let out in a squeak. Set released her and she gasped for breath.

"Glad were clear."

Serket frowned when he walked away, "You didn't have to be so rough you know." she grumbled.

"Yes I did," He said. His hearing was excellent =

"What, may I ask, is so special about her? She's a mortal." she said.

He smiled wickedly, "She is the beloved of Anubis. I would just love to rip her out from under him."

She smiled wickedly, "You can have her, but Anubis is all mine."

He nodded, "Of course."

"SO, what are we to do now?" she questioned.

"Sit and wait to see if she really is going home."

"And if she does?" she asked him again.

"I don't think she will." He chuckled, "He loves her too much to let her go."

"We'll see...." she hissed slightly.

"Oh don't worry you'll get what you want."

Then the day came. Nefertari came to Osiris' palace with Hathor and her sisiters and ANubis attended with Thoth.

She was uneasy about Anubis being there.

He seemed calm, even with Nefertari being in the room. Everyone took a seat and Osiris entered the room with Isis, "My children welcome."

The all bowed and took their seats.

"We are all gathered today to hear the case of Anubis and the mortal, Nefertari." he announced, "Step forward."

Nefertari nervously stepped forward, "Yes Sir."

And Anubis stepped foward as well. Osiris looked at them both for a moment, scanning the both of them. Then he turns to Anubis, "I have been told that you wish to suggest something Anubis?"

Anubis nodded, "Yes Sire I do."

She looked at Anubis surprised, 'I never heard anything about this...' She thought.

"I wish to suggest the young Nefertari take a trail of three years with me. To show her that my affections for her are true and to see if maybe a bit more time can possible show she may possibly feel the same." Anubis told the court.

Osiris cupped his chin, "Hmm, it seems fair, but what if the mortal man feels the same for Nefertari?" he questioned him, Anubis sighed, "I will let her be then. But if he does not, I wish for my suggestion to be done." Osiris looked to Nefertari, "Are you in agreement with this arrangement?"

Nefertari sighed, "Yes Sir... It seems fair to me..."

Osiris nodded, "Let the doorway to the mortal world be open!" he said to his wife. Isis nodded and a glowing set of doors appeared in front of Anubis and Nefertari, "Picture the man you love and it will show where he is and what he does this very moment." Isis instructed.

She closed her mind and pictured him: His dark hair, his tan skin, his buff body, his kind eyes... everything

Then Abasi's image showed in the door way, he was in his home and he looked to be just arriving home.

She opened her eyes and smiled, "Abasi..." She whispered.

Anubis took a deep breath and he glared at Abasi's image.

Abasi stepped into his house and then a woman came into the picture.

She looked into the picture unbelieving, "No..." She whispered. "This isn't it." Tears welled up in her eyes and she ran out of the room.

Hathor and Bastet ran after Nefertari.

Anubis was even surprised, he looked at him and the unknown woman, "She was too late." he whispered.

They found her under a tree weeping.

"Oh my dear." Hathor sat with her and pulled her into an embrace, "I am sorry Nefertari... I really am." Bastet rubbed her back.

"I-I didn't think he would...."

Hathor sighed, "My dear, it was not meant to be then...do not be so dreaded about it." he caressed her hair.

"He's only with her because he thinks I'm dead." She sobbed.

Hathor hugged her, "He has chosen Nefertari, if you went back now, he would be confused and torn."

Nefertari only cried more.

"It won't be all bad my dear...I'm sure Anubis will be good to you." she tried to comfort her.

She only responded with more crying.

Osiris dismissed the court and Anubis went outside. He spotted Nefertari and the goddesses under the tree. Bastet saw him coming and got up and pushed him back gently, "No Anubis. She is not ready to talk to you yet." he was about to object, "She just had her heart broken. Give her time." He sighed, "Very well." he went the other direction.

"No..." She said, "I really thought..."

"There is nothing you can do about it now my dear. It does hurt at first, but soon one day....you'll find someone who loves you dearly." she smoothed her hair out.

"You mean Anubis..." She sighed and stood up, "I need to be alone for a while." She walked off, "I have been a bit cruel to him... He deserves better." She walked around not looking where she was going until she ran into some one.

"Hello little one." smirked Seth, "Let me guess....you're stuck here?"
