Bride of Anubis

"Because we died at the age you see, we are actually much older than yourself Miss. Same with Femi." they looked to femi, "Its true."

Nefertari was astonished,

"I told you that didn't I?" Femi asked.

"No child you didn't."

"Oops, I am sorry. I should have told you." she laughed nervously.

"So.. does that mean... your married too?" She asked

"Oh no. Since of my young looking age, I decided not to." she laughed.

Nefertari smiled, "Good." She kissed the top of her head

She giggled, the other servant girls smiled, happy for their little sister servant.

"You know, all you girls should have better quarters. I'll talk to Anubis about it."

"Have you seen our quarters miss? We really do not need much. What master Anubis gave us is much better than what we had in the living world." one smiled.

"But you girls don't have any fineries."

"We all grew up as peasants miss, we are used to simple things in life. And simple is humble, we do not need much, honestly." they assured her.

"Well that is not gonna stop me. For you birthdays and holidays, I am giving you all gifts." She smiled

They giggled, "Thank you Miss."

She smiled, "You girls are so adorable." She hugged them all

They laughed and hugged her back.

Meanwhile...

Anubis had his hands full, "Why are there so many dead souls of late? There is no plague or anything happening."

He shrugged, "Possibly."

"Keep an eye out here I need to check something." he said, heading to one of the doors to the human world.

Thoth nodded, "Go on."

Anubis went transparent and went to walk about the human world, no one can see him, unless he wanted them to.

People in the palace seemed fine, but the people out side did not.

"WHy is the common people so ill, while the Palace is not?" he looked around.

It seemed Nefertiti had been so absorbed in her new baby, she'd been neglecting her duties.

ANubis glared, "A baby is wonderful, but neglecting the people? I am NOT having it!" he went to one of the priests and made him get a sense of him.

Nefertari set the baby down when the priest entered, "Hello Uncle. How are you?"

"I sense the presence of one of the gods my Queen." he said.

Her face brightened, "I do hope it is a message from my husband."

"I fear it is directly from a god, my queen." he had fear in his eyes, "Its Anubis."

Her face fell and she nodded, "What is it Lord Anubis?" She handed the baby to the nurse.

Anubis appeared and his is much taller in person, about ten feet tall. WIth his Jackal head form he growled,

"Why is it that I find the common folk sick and dying and yet you sit here, and do nothing?" his eyes glowed red.

She frowned confused, "They are dieing? But my advisor has been taking care of the matters of the kingdom while I recover. I only gave birth last week. When I ask him, he says everything is fine."

Anubis frowned, "Your Pharaoh had gone to great lengths for you to be on the throne, now DO your job. Do not place it on another when it is YOUR duty. I know you just had a child, but fer seven days, you would be recovered enough to get on with it. AM I clear?"

She nodded, "Yes Sir."

The nurse maid stepped in, "Lord Anubis, Lady Isis has granted M'lady a month to recover from such a challenging birth. M'Lady almost died."

Nefertiti sighed, "Please do not get involved. This is the god of death. He could take my babies life at any time, just like he did my cousin and husband."

"Your cousin, Nefertari?" he pretended to not know her fully?

She nodded, "Poor girl. She fell off the boat and the guards wouldn't let me go back for her."

"From what I heard you were too in a rush to get to your wedding than to return to rescue her." he crossed his arms.

Nefertiti frowned, "Really? I don't remember much of that day. It was all a blur" She dismissed it.

The nurse maid frowned, "Do not chastised M'lady. This birth has cost her, her legs." Nefertiti looked away embarrassed, "She is paralyzed from the waist down!"

ANubis glared at the maid, "KEEP YOUR TONGUE IN YOUR MOUTH! Unless, you wish it to be cut out?" he turned to the Queen, "EVen so, You still have a voice. Do your duty. ANd as for your cousin...well, let me just say she is more alive than any of you right now. This is my only warning, do you duty." he vanished.

She nodded, "Yes Lord Anubis."

The priest looked to the Queen, "Is it true my lady, did you leave Nefertari to the Nile?" he was hoping it not to be true, "Because the gods to not speak lies."

She sighed, "Yes I was young and foolish then. I was blinded by my own pride. But I have payed the price for my mistake."

"And what did he mean by she is more alive than any of us now? It sounded like he was telling us she is still living." the priest guessed.

Nefertiti frowned, "I highly doubt it. My spies would have seen her by now,"

"But what if he was meaning in the afterlife, not our world?" he questioned.

"Maybe..." She said. "But never mind. Fetch me my litter and take me to the throne room."

The guards bowed and headed off.

BAck in the Underworld...

Anubis returned and sighed, annoyed by all that has happened.

Isis came to him and she seemed rather unhappy, "Anubis! What is this I hear about you harassing Queen Nefertiti."

"She was not doing her duty as Queen. SHe just handed it to one of the incompetent advisors, who know NOTHING and CARE NOTHING for the people and I am getting over run with souls which is suppose to NOT Happen." he said.

"She is paralyzed! Anubis I know you don't like her much, but have some sympathy."
