Runaway

She smiled at him, "It's Aunika." (Awe-ni-ka)

"Lovely. Much better than Abaddon." He chuckled. They finally made it back to the camp. He set the pale over the fire and let the water boil. He took a potato from his bag and a small dagger from his pocket and began peeling and cutting up the potatoes.
"So what about you? What are you doing wandering around town looking for a place to live?"

"Oh... no good reason. Just finally time to be off on my own. You know being 18 and all...." She said.

"I remember those days. I am 21 now, so I have been on my own now for a while. Cielo is really the only company I have had for a long time."

She smiled, "Well you have me know too."

"But for how long? You won't really need me after you find a place of your own?"

She frowned, "Trying to get rid of me already?" She teased.

He blushed a bit. "No not at all." Abaddon winced a bit suddenly when he realized he cut his finger while he wasn't paying attention.
"Damn."

She smiled. "Here let me help you." She tore the hem of her dress then wrapped it around his hand.

Abaddon winced a bit as she tied the bit of cloth around his hand.
"Seems I am always thanking you. I don't know how I ever got along without you." Cielo rolled his eyes and let out a heavy neigh.
"Thank you, Aunika."

She smiled, "It's no problem really. It's the least I could do since you saved my life."

"I also saved your maidens head. I could tell by the look in that creeps eyes that he wanted much more than to just rob you." His stomach turned at the thought.
"I am just glad I made it in time. I am also glad that you are alright." He finished cutting up the vegetables and put them all in the pot to make a delicious vegetable soup.
"I hope you're hungry."

She nodded, "It smells good."

" I only have one bowl, so I hope you don't mind sharing." He took out a bowl from his bag inside the tent and served them both a big helping.
"You can eat first since you are clearly the hungriest."

She blushed, "Are you sure? I mean it is your food."

"I'm sure. Besides it is proper manners to let the lady eat first." He smiled jokingly.
"You are starting to look a bit pale too, so you need to eat."

She nodded, "Thank you." She took dainty sips of the soup to dainty to be a commoner.

Abaddon noticed how nicely she ate her soup and without spilling a drop at that.
"I have never seen someone eat soup with such grace and care before." He took a closer look at her. He noticed how clean her hair was, how polished her nails were and how her skin had a soft luster to it.
"You are not a commoner are you. . .?" He asked quite bluntly.

This caught her by surprise and she choked on her soup, "What makes you think that?"

"Your hair is extremely clean, your nails are perfectly trimmed and polished, and your skin is very soft and not a sign or calluses from working. Probably didn't think about all of that when you ran away did you?" He chuckled. "But don't worry, your secret is safe with me."

She blushed, "I was hoping to get away with it longer than this."

"What is the big deal if one person knows? Are you royalty or something of that nature?"

She bit her lip, "Something like that."

"Am I making you nervous?" Abaddon could tell that she was hiding something, but then again so was he.

"A little," She sighed, "I just want a new life. Leave behind my old one."

"Ok. How is the food? Good?" He stirred the mixture in the pot as it began to get thick.
"Why do you want to start fresh, if I may ask?"

She nodded, "The food is wonderful thank you."
She sighed, "I don't really wish to say."

"Understandable." He could tell that he hit a nerve. The sadness in her eyes explained it all. He covered her hand with his own.
"It will be ok. I will be here for you if you want me to."

She blinked, "Really? You would do that, for me?"

"Of course. Us loners have to stick together after all." He pulled out a small glass and a bottle of wine he had been saving for a special occasion.
"I hope you like red wine." He popped the cork and poured her some in the glass.

She smiled and nodded, "That would be nice thank you."

He handed her the glass and took a sip from the bottle.
"Sorry, I only have one of everything with me. I wasn't expecting to pick up a companion." He looked up at the sky and saw the day was close to its end.
"I didn't realize it had gotten so late. Luckily, my tent is big enough for two. I will keep you safe here for tonight."

She blushed, "Thank you, your really kind. I don't know how I'm going to repay you."

"Think nothing of it." He took another sip of the wine then set the bottle down next to her.
"I will keep watch from the top of the tree. You can go to the stream and bathe if you want. If I see or hear something suspicious I will come running."

She nodded, "I'd like that thank you." She got up and went down the stream (all the while thinking pervert XD. Haha jk no she didn't)

Abaddon stayed true to his word and kept watch from the tree tops. He could see her clearly, but his intentions were pure. He did not want something to happen to her. He watched her wade into the water and begin to bathe. She was very beautiful indeed.

She went under rinsing her hair. When she came back up she swam to shore and put her clothes back on.

Abaddon watched as she put her clothes back on then looked at the surrounding area to see if there was anything suspicious around. Everything seemed fine. He waited until she was dressed to get down from the tree and hurry over to her and walk her back.
"May I escort you back?" He asked coming up to her trying not to scare her.

She blushed and took his arm, "That would be lovely."

Abaddon covered her hand with his free hand and kept her close.
"I didn't see anything. The most I saw was a silhouette of you."

She blushed, "Oh.. umm.. Thank you I think."

"I didn't want you to think I was a creepy lecher." He kept his gaze straight forward looking ahead at the camp site.

"Why would I think that? You had plenty of times you could have taken me yet you didn't."

"That's true." They returned to the camp site and Abaddon doused the fire with the left over water.
"Get some rest, you have had a rough day." Abaddon crawled in and prepared to sleep on the opposite side of the tent.
"It is going to be cold tonight." He took off his cloak and folded it up sitting it near his head then took his shirt off doing the same with it.

Aunika crawled into the tent after him. She fell asleep quickly. In the middle of the night Abaddon woke up to find his arm around her waist.

Abaddon laid down and waited for her to fall asleep before he did. He was not far behind her. He shifted in his sleep and his arm draped over her waist. He awoke and noticed this, but thought nothing of it. She was cold to the touch and seemed to shiver a bit in her sleep.
"Are you awake Aunika?"

"Nngh.... I am now." She said yawning.

"You seem very cold. Here." He moved a bit closer and wrapped his arms around her pulling her gently back into him.
"My body heat will keep you warm. Now go back to sleep." He pulled a bigger blanket over the both of them, and kept his arms protectively around her.

She blushed being so close to him, "Thank you." She quickly fell back asleep safe and warm in his arms.

Abaddon and Aunika slept peacefully through the night. Little did they know that one of the kings henchmen was watching outside the tent.
"So you ran away to be with this wench I see."
